Universal Insurance Headquarters are located in a cul-de-sac street condition, with minimal frontage. This was the main design challenge, as the company desired a large presence and visibility. The solution was to create a cylindrical tower-like entranceway that would function as a hinge between the two main structures—the main building and the parking structure. This unifying element creates a focal point, with a digital screen to display messages pertinent to the company, visible from a distance. The storm shutters on the façade are mounted on pivots, serving as brises-soleil in normal weather and can be closed off completely in stormy weather to protect the glass windows.
