The project, located in the island of Vieques, 10 miles east of Puerto Rico, consists on the re-design and re-development of the existing Martineau Bay Hotel into the W Hotel Retreat & Spa, the W Hotel’s first five-star resort. SCF Arquitectos, in charge of the architecture, engineering and design management tasks, has collaborated with EDSA, Patricia Urquiola and Rockwell Group Europe to create a partially sustainable high-end resort.

The project includes 156 keys in a combination of suites and mini-suites, a fully refurbished and expanded Main House, and a world class Spa, among other amenities. After four years of planning and renovations, the project will show a new edge in terms of its appearance and use of materials. SCF partner and architect Alberto Ferrer, AIA, and SCF architect Nayda Berlingeri have been in charge of the project since its beginning, with spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola joining the design team in 2007.
