Atlantic Commercial Park, Bayamón

Two separate buildings serve as headquarters and warehouse for one of Puerto Rico’s largest Food and Beverage Distribution Companies.

The design intent of the 67,000 sf office building was to evoke the movement and velocity of the cars in the expressway adjacent to the property, and at the same time, create an illusion of lightness by elevating the building’s main volume one level above ground. The long horizontal facades in front and back seem to float and seen from the expressway to the north side and entrance of the site, standout dramatically in front of the long 341,000 sf warehouse volume that acts as backdrop. The office building is a steel frame system with concrete precast panels in the north and south façades. The east and west façades are composed of an Aluminum Composite Panel as cladding.

The project was recipient of two awards for excellence in design: 2009 XVIII Cemex Building Award, and the 2009 Metal Mag Award, 2nd place.
