Air Traffic Control Tower

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, San Juan

The tallest air traffic control tower in the Caribbean and Latin America was commissioned and is operated by the United States Federal Aviation Administration. The tower’s shaft element, composed of fluted pre-cast concrete panels that emphasize verticality through high-resolution shadows from its fins, rises as a cupped hand to support a stainless-steel-clad office-facilities module. The office-facilities module incorporates shading devices and heat-conscious, deep-set windows.
