Amgen Master Plan

Juncos

In 2000 Amgen Manufacturing Ltd began a 1.6 billion dollar manufacturing expansion at its facilities in Juncos. New administrative, cafeteria and training center facilities were required to support the increased scale of their operations, as well as a Child Care Center and open spaces such as a Main Plaza and pedestrian connecting spine.

The Administration Building acts as the core and organizing component within the new master plan for the manufacturing facilities. It links directly to the main site Plaza, Cafeteria, Training Center, and Spine Connector. The building houses the main administrative offices, the site infirmary, main gymnasium and the site’s central data center within its three story envelope. The Cafeteria and Training Center Facilities are housed within a one story 50,000 sq.ft. building. The 20,000 sq.ft. Training Center has a total capacity for 450 people, which may be subdivided into rooms ranging from 200 to 25 people each. All rooms are equipped with technologically advanced audio-visual, data connectivity, and acoustical control systems. The adjacent Cafeteria, with its state of the art kitchen, provides food service for up to 500 people per shift in a comfortable open seating area overlooking Amgen’s central plaza. A 20,000 square feet building was designed to provide child care services to its employees. To ensure that the Center was design to meet the U. S. General Services Administration guidelines SCF worked with the International Child Resource Institute as consultants.

The master plan was prepared In collaboration with EDSA.
